WASCO, Kern County — October 25, 2026. The City of Wasco is seeking contractors for two separate projects on Filburn Avenue, one focused on pavement rehabilitation and another covering shoulders, sidewalks and associated safety work. The city issued both bid notices on October 15, 2026, setting different submission deadlines for November 10. These are procurement notices, not confirmation that crews have already started construction.
Filburn Avenue rehabilitation
The first solicitation, Bid 24014 / STPL 5287 (066), calls for road-rehabilitation work including grading, compaction, asphalt pavement, pavement markings, traffic signs and other improvements described in the contract documents. According to the official Wasco procurement notice, the bid closes on November 10 at 2 p.m. City-issued addenda and the actual bid package control eligibility and the detailed limits of construction.
Filburn Avenue shoulders and pedestrian access
A second official city bid, 25018 / 25019, addresses work on the shoulders of Filburn Avenue. Its listed scope includes hot-mix asphalt over prepared base material, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, a wheelchair-accessible curb ramp, striping and roadside signs. Its bid opening is scheduled for November 10 at 2:15 p.m. The two solicitations share a corridor but have distinct contract descriptions; neither should be mistaken for a generic resurfacing program covering every street in Wasco.
When can contractors ask questions?
The rehabilitation notice lists a nonmandatory pre-bid meeting on October 28 at 9:30 a.m. at City Hall, 746 Eighth Street. Contractors should verify the current instructions, licensing requirements, specifications, and any revised dates before submitting. The city identifies Class A contractor licensing and a city business license among award requirements for that solicitation.
What might residents notice?
Road and pedestrian improvements can affect vehicle access, deliveries, school routes, parking and crossings. However, the bid notices do not yet establish the days, precise hours or limits of any future road closures. Drivers and businesses should not treat an open construction solicitation as a live traffic advisory. Once contractors are selected, residents can request construction schedules, traffic-control plans and information on the continuity of pedestrian access.
How to follow the contracts
Both bid pages provide official contacts and download instructions. Wasco’s City Clerk office is at 746 Eighth Street, telephone 661-758-7215; contractors can request electronic plans using the contact information provided in the bid notices. The City of Wasco Agenda Center may provide related council decisions and contract awards after action is taken.
